St John's C of E School

(Fairmantle Street School)

Not original logo

Today, anyone visiting the site would not realise the children that once passed through the school gates - especially as the site is largely covered by the Iceland supermarket! But a closer look showes the outline of the playground and the tress we used to climb when the teachers turned their backs!

In those days it was way before political correctness - we had blackboards, the teachers freely smoked in front of us and we the children were free to play British Bulldog without the Health and Safety muppets telling us it was dangerous!

Anyway, I hope this site will be a contact on the internet for anyone searching for this school - and a place where you can add memories and photos.

My aim is to create a website with as much information as possible. Should there be enough information and photos I would love to publish a book on the school - but can only do that with your help!  (all photos will be credited to the contributor, no copyright infringement will be intended).

For those of you totally blank at this stage, this site is dedicated to the people that either taught at, or were taught to at St.John's C of E primary school, that once stood at the end of Fairmantle Street in Truro, Cornwall
